Santa Claus Is Cycling TO Town

Santa Claus, reindeer and elves were captured on camera by @DaveLikesBikes as they made an arduous JOYney from the North Pole (aka North York). The group traveled by bicycles of all sizes and shapes from Finch Ave south on Yonge Street all the way to Lake Ontario.

Santa Claus is said to make lists of children throughout the world. He categorizes them according to their behaviour. He then sets out to deliver presents, including toys and candy, to all of the well-behaved children in the world. Misbehaving children receive coal on the night of Christmas Eve. Will some City of Toronto councillors receive coal from Santa this year?

Santa Claus is said to accomplish this feat with the aid of his elves, who make the toys in his workshop at the North Pole. Santa Claus's flying reindeer are also said to provide assistance with pulling his sleigh - but this year they left him behind on the Hoggs Hollow hill. Cycling Santa must be magical to travel on Yonge Street by bicycle, as it’s a street so dangerous for cyclists that few venture to ride on it. But that needs to change!

Yonge Street is likely the oldest street in Toronto, with roots that date back to 1794 when the Queen's Rangers carved out the route at the direction of John Graves Simcoe. From its initial survey as a transportation route between the Town of York and Lake Simcoe in 1796, Yonge Street was intended to drive the economy of the fledgling colony of York and facilitate its defence.

2020 is our opportunity to #REImagineYonge for a #YongeTOmorrow
